Tafseer

There are many explanations of the Qu'raan which are called 'tafseer' تفسير singular. The plural is 'tafaaseer' تفاسير

Many people have attempted to convey the message of the Qur'aan which is the uncreated Speech of Allaah. Some explanations by well-known trusted scholars of the past and present are based upon knowledge and accepted. However, others are based upon whims and desires and are not accepted. They may contain incorrect explanations, be based upon deviant beliefs or simply not based upon the known meanings of the Qur'aan.

Authentic Tafaseer from the past include:

1. Tafseer at Tabaree
2. Tafseer Ibn Katheer (Summarized English version available from Darussalam)
3. Tafseer al Qurtubi
4. Tafseer al Baghawi

Recent Past:

5. Tafseer as Sa'dee (last juz available in English now by Darussalam)
6. Tafseer Muhammad Saalih al 'Uthaymeen

The English Translation of the meanings of the Qur'aan contain many explanations from the Tafaaseer. See www.noblequran.com/translation
